AVI and Dahlgren Consulting were selected to perform a Level II study to identify a supplemental water source for the Squaw Creek Water District in Teton County.  The District has 75 homes on its water system.  The current water supply consists of two alluvial wells on Game Creek and a developed spring source.  These sources are potentially subject to influence of surface water and are barely adequate to meet District demands despite an aggressive schedule of water rates.

The contract for the first phase of the work was signed on June 11, 2010 and directed AVI to complete a Level II study of the District’s water system including an evaluation of supply, transmission, distribution, water rights, operations, water quality, and population/demand, identification of alternatives, cost estimates, and recommendations.  This phase included a pump test of an existing well and evaluation of multiple supply options but did not identify a viable source of new supply.

The contract amended in March of 2013, to provide funds for the construction of a test well on the Bridger Teton National Forest.  The well did not produce sufficient water to justify cost of a pipeline to the District. The test well required the acquisition of Special Use Permits from the US Forest Service and the Wyoming Game and Fish Department.

In 2014, AVI initiated negotiations with a private landowner and with the WGFD for additional test well sites.  If a successful well is developed, AVI will design a water line and appurtenances necessary to connect to the District’s existing system.  With concurrence from the District and WWDO, an application for Level III funding will be prepared.
